Sometimes size really does matter! This is by far the largest vintage Italian micromosaic pendant that I've seen. A central bouquet of flowers in a myriad of colors is surrounded by red tesserae and a black border. In most micromosaics that would be the entire pendant but, in this case, there is an additional elaborate border of alternating pink and turquoise arches surrounding yellow and white drops with black and white triangles between them and a border of royal blue tesserae with white dots. The finishing touch is a pattern of raised dots on the gold plated metal setting.
It's worth looking closely at the individual tesserae in this pendant since many of them are multi-colored, figural, and patterned: there are leaves, flowers, polka dots, stripes, and ombre colors within many of the individual tiny pieces of glass. I've included a simple black ribbon so the pendant can be worn immediately.
Size: 2-1/4" long x 1-3/8" wide
Age: Mid-20th century
Condition: Very good vintage condition. All tesserae appear to be present. The loop at the top has been replaced. A very good repair was done and it is not visible from the front.
