This exquisite bracelet looks like it has just stepped out of a Renaissance painting. Three large (11mm) amethysts in bezel settings are surrounded by delicate openwork studded with seed pearls. The large amethysts alternate with 8-9 mm amethysts in cut down collet settings. A pair of 8-9 mm amethysts with openwork and seed pearls and an amethyst-set clasp complete the bracelet, for a total of ten stones.
The natural amethysts are just beautiful, a lovely shade of lavender. This bracelet is so romantic and would look lovely on a bride, for a night out on the town, or for any special occasion.
The settings are gilt 935 silver (the safety chain is a later addition of gold plated chain). Though I can't say for certain the origin of the bracelet, the style and 935 silver point to it being European from the early 20th century.
Size: 7-1/4" long x 7/8" wide. The bracelet can easily be shortened 1/2" by removing the extra links adjacent to the clasp. Likewise, it could be lengthened a little by adding a few links.
Age: Early 20th century
Marks: "935" and a makers mark of "P".
Condition: Very good vintage condition. There are two missing seed pearls and some minor flea bites to the amethysts visible under magnification.
