Victorian Cut Steel Bangle with Star
I believe this piece is "married" meaning that the medallion was added to the cut steel bangle sometime after it was originally made; in fact it may be a marriage of three items since it appears that the star may have been added to the circle. The reason I believe this is because the backing metal on the medallion is slightly different in color than that of the bangle and because, looked at with a loupe, it is possible to see some solder at the points of the star where it attaches to the circle. Furthermore, I believe that the medallion would have been riveted to the bracelet if original instead of slid onto it. Nevertheless, cut steel bracelets are extremely rare and the medallion has been added in a way that has not damaged the underlying bracelet and looks beautiful on it.
