These earrings bring to mind the glamour of Elizabeth Taylor in the Richard Burton years. In fact he gave her a pair of pear-shaped Bulgari emerald drops surrounded by diamonds very similar in design to these earrings.
The earrings consist of large pear shaped emerald rhinestones caged by a double row of clear rhinestones and suspended from a rosette of a small clear stones surrounding a emerald stone. They are unsigned but I believe these earrings are by DeLizza and Elster (aka Juliana) as there are several examples of framed stone earrings on pages 152-154 of "Juliana Jewelry Reference" by Ann Pittman (although none that are pear shaped). The findings holding the double row of stones forming the frame are identical to those shown in the book.
On top of this Pantone, the company that provides color standards and advice to the fashion industry, has declared Emerald the 2013 "Color of the Year". So, in addition to these earrings being the height of 60's glamour, they are also totally au courant.
