An nice set of French Art Nouveau cast iron "Wind Maiden" plaques in a white hand applied finish. Unsigned. C. 1900-1950.
A delightful and rare set of Art Nouveau "Wind Maiden" plaques depicting the North and South Winds. The original plaques, from which these are copied, debuted in 1889 at the Paris World International Exposition and won a Bronze Metal. The original plaques were hand carved marble.
Great detail with old white cold painted finish. Cast raised hole brackets on back for easy hanging. A wonderful set of decorative plaques that will present well regardless of where you place them.
Height: 13 inches Width: 9.5 inches Weight: 6 lbs each Condition: Very Good - Only normal age and wear indicators commensurable with their age. No damage noted.
