A fine Vintage set of Antoino Canova Lion bookends in a Gold Gild finish. Stamped "ANTOINO CANOVA 1757-1822" to the verso. Old Felt. C 1900-1940

Antonio Canova was an Italian sculptor from the Republic of Venice who became famous for his marble sculptures that delicately rendered subjects. The original marble lion sculptures represented by the bookends sit at the tomb of Pope Clement XIII in Rome, Italy.
