Victorian 10k Cowrie Shell Brooch
Antique Victorian Cowrie Shell Brooch with 10k rose gold flower centers. Exceptional old brooch using cowry shells, which represented fertility and wealth. Each Cowrie shell contains a 10k (tested) rose gold flower. The back looks to be an old brass or metal with an old "C" clasp closure. Measures approx 2.5" long. The center cowry shell has a little wiggle room but has been checked by a jeweler and is secure. I have also hung this on a chain as a pendant. No Markings. The gold flowers studs were acid tested and confirmed by jeweler.
