This is such a pretty blue crocheted miser's bag. It has metal beads and metal slides. There is an opening in the center where coins and small objects could be inserted and dropped to a pouch on either side and then closed with the slides to keep them secure. The bag could then be hand carried or folded over a belt.
The first miser's purses were carried in the late 1800's and then gained real popularity in the early 20th century. The popularity of miser's purses declined in the 1920's, but beaded and crocheted bags are making a big comeback and collectors will appreciate the style of this piece.
It measures almost 12" and it is in wonderful condition. Please ask questions if you have them.
