Christina Oros Blum, "Opulence" Original Watercolor Painting on Paper

Presented for sale is this original watercolor of vivid waterlilies and lotus blossoms. This piece is a rendition from a photograph the artist took while on visit to Long Lake, MN. As the story goes, the artist and her husband borrowed a friend's fishing boat for the sole purpose of going out on the lake and taking photographs of the water lily pads and lotus blossoms. For this particular shot, her husband had to sit on her feet while she leaned over the edge of the boat to capture this image.

From the Waterlilies Series: "My new work combines painting, handmade paper structures, and collage to depict my personal rendition of "Waterlilies." Different environments are created by combining the momentary effects of the wind and light, and my use of form and color. The visual images are a constant search to converge content, materials and nature.

This piece is elegantly displayed in the artist's custom designed frame. The piece is set in a 2" classic silver frame, floated mounted with an acid-free linen mat and protected with UV acrylic. It is pencil signed in the lower right hand corner, including the artist's personally designed logo.

Christina Oros Blum (1943 - , USA) is a painter and sculptor whose inspirations come from nature and the environment; it is the starting point for her exploration. As she works, space division, color, light, motion and message are things to be considered. Art helps her connect her inner reality with the world around her.

Recognizable subject matter is used to explore shapes in a changing environment. Art should capture the essence of an experience before it vanishes. Christina's watercolor paintings, featured here, simplify, rearrange, and, in some cases, exaggerate what she sees and feels. Her bold brush strokes and intense color infuse energy and emotion into her work.

Her use of transparent and opaque watercolors make the paintings subtle and vibrant at the same time. She spends several hours preparing for a new painting - envisioning the subject matter and message, reviewing her photos and sketches, preparing her medium - all before touching brush to paper.
