Vintage French silver compact locket pill box or poudrier for chatelaine

Another lovely French find , we can't find a hallmark but have thoroughly tested it and it is at least 900 grade silver , a little below sterling. The box locket was almost certainly designed as part of a chatelaine. The design is very unusual with what appears to be a design of bamboo, possibly Japanese influence around the end of the 19th century. The box is beautifully domed and almost spherical, very tactile. The patina is wonderful and as always left uncleaned. There are minor dimples and undulations to be expected in such an old piece. Measuring 1 & 1/2 inches in diameter and just under an inch thick , weight 19.8 grams.
