This is a beautiful High Compote made by McKee Glass in 1894. The pattern is called "Yale" or "Crows-Feet" This compote is very heavy, the glass is thick and does have some straw marks and mold marks from 19th century production. This compote measures 7 1/2" tall and approximately 8" top width, the crows feet pattern is over the base and the bowl of the compote, the stem which connencts the bowl and the base has a linear design pattern. There are no chips, cracks or flea bites, the condition is amazing for the age of this gorgeous compote. There are 2 small areas of slightly raised glass which most likely occurred from a drip of glass in production. I bring these 2 tiny areas to your attention because since they are slightly raised they can be felt when you rub your finger across them, they are not indented as a nick or flea bite would be. I have gone over the inner and outer rims, the base and have held it up to light and cannot find any areas of damage. The pattern of this compote reminds me of sea shells, and could be displayed in multiple settings, however it would be displayed please know it is a rare piece and very hard to find in this superb condition and doubtfully could be found in another home or curio.
