Up for sale is a lovely antique pickle castor set. The set has a wonderful cranberry glass jar with opalescent coin dots, with an unmarked silver metal lid. The jar with lid measures 7 1/2 inches tall x 3 1/4 inches across. There are no chips, cracks or dings to the glass jar. The lid is unmarked with a decorative fan-shaped knob. It has heavy tarnish but no damage (looks like silverplate).
The castor frame measures 11 inches tall x 4 inches across, and has a charming scene with flowers, leaves and ferns along the top. It has an elegant design along a band near the bottom. It is marked "638" on the bottom. The two included tongs are unmarked with tarnish. One set of tongs is a pair of hands wearing rings, pressing against shapes. They measure 6 1/2 inches. The smaller 5 1/2 inch tongs have one missing finger on the grasping hands. There are two small protruding decorative holders for the tongs. The set has no damage, just tarnish. No breaks, dings or dents - this is a heavy, well-made frame. I do think someone got a little overzealous with the polishing though as the bars connecting the top to the bottom have the silverplate worn off. The glass insert seems to be slightly smaller than the lid and the bottom holder where it sits as it is not a snug fit, but perhaps it was meant that way.
