This oil on canvas captures a moment of winter life in the nineteenth century. F.D. Pritchard paints a snowy village nestled in between forests and a frozen river. Chimneys are letting out wisps of smoke; people are out skating, fishing and sledding on the ice. The scene was expertly painted in warm tones and has a homey, cheerful feel.A very nice painting in the Dutch manner.
