This very fine pr. of Candlesticks measure 9 1/2" Ht., base diam. is 6" The heavy bases actually ring like a bell when struck on the side and will resonate for quite a long time. As mentioned this pr. of Baluster Shaft sticks are Dutch or Spanish and would date c. 1670-1690. For a similar example please refer to Schiffer, "The Brass Book" p. 158 B. They are in very fine un-polished condition and exhibit a very fine patina to the surface. Please note there is a small dent close to the rectangular opening on one where you would extract the candle stub. Yes, the shafts do unscrew from the base, unfortunately we missed photographing them separated.
