Silverplate Footed Tray - W&S Blackinton Co. Circa 1930's/1940's

For sale is a gorgeous heavy silverplated tray. It has a manufacturers stamp on the bottom for an early silver plate piece from the W&S Blackinton Company. The stamp is a wolf's head facing right, the W&SB stamp and finally a lion passant facing left.

The W&S Blackinton Company was founded in 1865 by 2 brothers who produced gold jewelry. Taken over in the 1930's by the Ellmore Silver Co., they started a line of silver plate holloware. I believe this tray is from that era.

This is a square tray with a beautiful border of scrolls and shell designs. The face of the tray has similar style etching. The measurements are approximately 15-3/4 inches long going N/S and E/W direction. The flat area on the inside measures approximately 12-1/8 inches in both directions.

There are a couple of condition issues. There is a tarnish line on the back of the tray that is pretty obvious, please see picture. I could not get this out no matter how hard I tried. You could take this to a professional polisher but it does not detract from the beauty of the tray, no one will see it when you have it displayed.

Please email me with any questions regarding this gorgeous item.
