The firm E.M. Gattle was founded in New York in the nineteenth century by Emanuel Gattle. Located on Broadway in the theater district, Gattle was well-established by the turn of the Century, and in 1907 they opened a new store on Fifth Avenue at 38th Street. This was a prime location as they has a number of famous clients among the opera and theater stars, such as Enrico Caruso, who even allowed the firm to use his name and photograph in their advertising E.M. Gattle jewelry store was located at the northwest corner of Broadway and 27th St.
