A stunning 9" comport in the scarce icy blue opalescent glass called "Windsor Blue", produced by Cambridge Glass. This design is from the Seashell Line, introduced to the trade in early 1935 and produced in various colors through the 1940's before being discontinued. Beautiful crisp molding, nice finishing, and bearing the "C" in triangle mark just under the incurved lip of the shell.
We are always drawn to pale blue opaline and milk glass, and were immediately taken with this piece, especially because unlike some opaque glass that has a "dead" color, this comport displays a gorgeous fiery opalescence. We've tried to capture it in the photos, but it really must be seen and handled to be appreciated.
In mint condition, this is a beautiful, hard to find piece that would be a highlight in any collection of Cambridge or pale blue glass.
Dimensions: 9" wide side to side, 8.5" front to back, 5" tall.
Marks: "C" in triangle on inside of dish just below incurved lip.
Condition: Mint. No chips, cracks, flakes, discoloration or repairs.
