A good-looking majolica pitcher with bird, cattail, and bellflower motifs in shades of olive, viridian, gold, cranberry red and rich brown on an ivory ground. The interior is glazed a soft, warm pink.
The large size of this piece makes a nice statement whether displayed alone or as part of a collection.
Guaranteed antique and authentic.
Dimensions: 8.25" height, 4" diameter at rim, 6.5" width including handle and spout.
Marks: None other than decorator's brush marks on base.
Condition: Good; overall fine crazing as typical. A spot of dark frit or kiln residue adhering to the base, and a small fissure next to handle, both from manufacture (see photos 8 & 9) There is a 1/4" line in the rim, just above the top of the handle (visible in photo 9) that appears to be from the manufacture as well, since it does not go through to the inside. Otherwise no flakes, cracks, chips or repairs.
