Late Georgian, Early Victorian watercolor painting of a sweet lady in period clothing from 1800s, she is in excellent antique condition it remains in the original frame and convex glass. Copper frame is embossed and chased with flowers. I would date her to about 1835.
The colors of the paintings are still very vibrant, even after over 200 years! So sweet, the subject of a lady in her lacy dress and Georgian jewelry there is a blue sky and cloud background, typical of Georgian era portraits, as she rests her elbow on a blue silk. She has an almost melancholy expression in her eyes with an almost forced hint of a smile. I think that is what attracted me to her when I purchased her about 20 years ago from a highly regarded antique dealer in Orange, California.
Simply signed CL in the corner, it is English in origin and is in excellent antique condition. The painting measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" it is a little more in the lovely floral frame. The painting does not have a ring or mount and likely was originally nestled inside a wooden frame which has been parted from her for many years. We can include a small clear easel for display, if you desire.
