Very popular in the Deco era where the jewelry artist used all kinds of materials to make interesting pieces, this necklace is made of a variety of materials to include wooded and metal beads along with faux pearls and early resin plastic clear and opaline beads, some faceted, some just orbs. The combination is lovely with the browns contrasting the pinks.
So many times we find heavy crystal necklaces from the Art Deco period, and these beads simulate that look, however, because it wasn't made from glass or crystal the necklace is so light and easy to wear around the neck.
Opera length it measures 48" total, there are no clasps, it is simply put over the head and worn loosely or can be easily doubled. In good vintage condition without any missing beads or chips, just some very typical small wear when closely inspected, it is circa 1920-1930 and is English in origin.
