I am a huge fan of dangle earrings, they are flirty and fun and add a little something extra special to your look as a whole. They are 'enhancers' that make people notice your beautiful features. Plus, they are just fun! Then there are the Chinese symbols. I have looked them up and it is a combination of (2) symbols the first being "woman/girl/female". The combination is: Hao-which means good/well/be fond of(good mother)..generally in terms it represents a fondness particular between a mother and child. I suspect these earrings were a gift between a child and their mother. I have added a picture I found online of these symbols.
These are vintage circa: 1940's. The jade drops are a lovely grass green. Good saturation throughout the entire piece. Not washed out, not light colored but a deep intense leafy green.
They measure 1-7/16" length x 5mm wide. There is a gold diamond shape under the Chinese symbol and above the dangle.
They are for pieced ears, however, they come with no backs. This is how they were found at the estate sale.
They are not hallmarked ut have been MIZAR M24 gold tested to be 14k gold.
These are intriguing earrings. So lovely and I admire what they represent. If you are thinking of Mothers Day, I could not agree more or if you have children and wanted to give these to a new mom or even a teacher, they would be pure perfection.
Please ask any questions, we are always here to ask.
