Ornate 10K Yellow Gold Woman Profile Shell Cameo Ring size 7.75

This is a lovely ring. An oval cameo featuring a profile of a pretty woman measuring 3/4 x 9/16" is set in an 8 prong scalloped frame. The cameo is nicely carved, however someone loved this ring very much because the sharp edges are worn smooth, the image is still clear and the details, particularly in her hair adornment are great (although the pictures don't really do her justice) but the wear softens the image beautifully. The top of the ring measures 1 x 3/4". The ring lacks a hallmark but tests for 10K (and actually may be 12K). I suspect this ring is at least 100 years old. The shell is in excellent shape without cracks or other damage. The gallery is solid and the band although not super thick is a nice solid 3/32" with years of wear. This is a wonderful piece of wearable art and history and is in very good estate/vintage condition. The ring weighs 6.1 grams.
