Offering a unique and extraordinary oblong purse with blue carnival glass beads and a lucite lid.(The plastic on the lid is commonly referred to as bakelite,by many sellers, but it is actually lucite). You come across these purses every now and then but this purse is extra special for 2 reasons: the BLACK lucite lid and the decorative applique on the front. In the 1950's there was a lot of experimentation with plastics in order to create new and exciting handbag designs. THis style was usually designed with an amber colored lucite lid, the black lid on this bag is not often seen. The decorative applique on the front is very rare, obviously it adds to the uniqueness of this particular purse. The purse is covered with midnight blue carnival beads and other colors, such as purple, turquoise, peacock blue, all add to the radiant shine of the bag. The applique is amazing. It is a flower like shape made from sequins, bugle beads and carnival beads which glisten and glimmer. It adds a three dimensional quality to the purse. THe lucite lid is free from significant scratches and has very few signs of wear. It too shines like a mirror and the original mirror is still there, although it does show some signs of aging. )This is unusual since most often the mirror is missing) The inside is lined with shiny midnight blue fabric and there is an open pocket as well as a label "An M.E. product". The beaded handle is 14" total (really more like 10" since it begins about 2" below the very top of the lid). The dimensions are 7+"w x 5"h x 3+" d. This purse is a "one of a kind" and displays nostalgia, style and glamour. Condition: Excellent vintage condition
