This ceramic bird house planter made by the Royal Haeger Pottery firm in the 1940s is in very good vintage condition. This American company originated in Dundee, Illinois, has had four generations of Haegers involved with its operation, and in 2005 celebrated 134 years of being in business.
The roof of the bird house has an opening for flowers or a plant. There is a bird couple sitting at the base waiting to build a nest. The rich, chocolate brown glaze with green highlights is brilliant after all these years. There is some wear on the bottom, a small chip on the corner, and stilt marks from firing. The chip can only be seen when looking at the bottom.
Measurements: 9 1/2 inches tall. 7 1/4 inches wide. 4 1/4 inches deep.
