1774 Book Art of Cookery Rare Antique by Hannah Glasse

Antique 1774 book "The Art of Cookery, Made Plain and Easy, Which Far Exceeds Any of the Kind Yet Published" by Hannah Glasse.

This rare book is 241 years old today. It's calf leather bound, hard-cover, and became the most popular cookbook of the 18th century. It gives practical advise, common sense recipes with directions for careful organization. It was written for the common cook to help in the preparation of economical meals. It also gives ideas to help with health problems like the plague or the bite of a mad dog. Also, includes a chapter for a ship captain with ideas for food for crew.

This 1774 edition shows wear around the edges. There is a little separation of the binding from the book. All pages are intact except for a pull-out called "The Order of a Modern Bill of Fare for each Month" which is torn but still intact. John Hopkins is stamped on the inside front cover. The pages are discolored, especially around the edges. Very good or better considering it's age. There is no odor.

We can add more photos, or answer questions. It's been in our home for 41 years, well cared for, and ready for a new home.
