Vintage Arne Nordlie Sterling Enamel Norway Midnight Sun North Cape Pendant

This is an EXQUISITE little hand painted pendant of the midnight sun at North Cape, Norway, by Arne Nordlie. North Cape is often referred to as the northern most point in Europe, not far from the arctic circle. Nordlie is known for his beautiful scenes such as this one in enamel--the way the rays of the sun radiate is marvelous. This pendant has a lovely design in sterling vermeil (gold wash), framing the picture, which is masterfully done. Likely dates from the 40's-50's.

It measures just under 1" high without the bale by about 3/4" wide, and is signed "925S" with the Nordlie hallmark, which is an N with an A on its side on either side of it. There is some some typical very light surface scratching on the back. This lovely piece is in excellent vintage condition--the enamel is perfect.
