This vintage circa 1960 Berggren-Trayner Swedish folk art tile and wood wall hanging is in great condition. The tile and wood colors are vibrant and the tile has no scratches, cracks or damage. The light slate blue felting on the back is slightly faded and has some light brown spatters which you can see mostly on the off white original label. This label titles the work and reads "The Evening Hour has Silver in it's Hair", Design No. 136R (someone has hand written in an 'F' as well?), a quality product from Berggren-Trayner, Libertyville, Illinois. The 'evening hour' phrase is written in Swedish as part of the tile design on the front along with a very colorful strutting bird with showy head and tail feathers and budding flower like corner designs. The entire hanging measures 9" square without the round brass colored hanger that is attached at the top of the piece. The hanger can swing from front to back making hanging easier. The tile alone is 5 3/4" square. The new owner of this piece will be getting a beautiful classic Swedish design to enjoy and share.
