This working mid century 24" tall table lamp (with 'Made in Holland' painted on it's side) is wonderful fun with it's 3 mast wooden ship named Mayflower(printed on the end along with an intricate gold and blue design) sitting on the 8 1/2" long red black trimmed book titled "The New Wonder Book, cyclopedia of world knowledge Vol.II". The ship is 8" tall, 6" long and has gold detailing on the outside top that includes curled scroll design and a women's head with it's face gazing out to sea, four colorful decorated family shields and 3 red square blocks on which the black strings holding the masts are anchored. The original stiff brown burlap covered tan paper shade is 14" long and 10" tall and is in excellent condition with no tears or large creases or stains. The shade has two faint water marks seen on the inside only, one that is less than 1" round and one place where water dripped down on the inside top to bottom. Both of these marks are faint and are shown in the pictures provided. I really like the black metal circular finial. The ship and book are also in good condition which is somewhat surprising given their age and fragile nature. The ship is missing one paper sail on the end mast(that could easily be replaced) and most of the sticker is missing from the middle top mast. There are a few tiny paint chips missing from the black wooden piece which holds the lamp shade and the book has some wear to the edges. Until you examine all of the lamp closely, you can't see or don't notice most of these small imperfections, you just enjoy the detail and uniqueness of the lamp as a whole. Examine the pictures and decide for yourself. I am certain that someone will be thrilled to enjoy this very classic lamp.
