For your consideration I am listing this rare 1940s vintage golden finished sterling silver eagle brooch by Coro. The bird is huge -- approximately 3 inches x 3 1/4 inches. From wing tip to tail tip, diagonally it is about 4 3/8 inches. Maximum profile is about 1/4 inch. Weight is approximately 20 grams. Coro sterling pieces are fairly easy to date as most were made in the early to mid 1940s when other metals were being used for the war effort. Their numbers are limited since they were made for a short time. The brooch pictured is magnificent in both it's size and subject matter. Feathering, eye, beak and claw feet details are superb. The eagle abound in body and wing contours. Most of the reverse of the brooch has a flat back plate. The front or top wing is arched a bit higher, sans back plate. Condition of the eagle is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All golden finish intact, front and back. No rubs or wear to golden overlay. No dents or improper bends. Pink back straight, strong and secure. No damage / no repairs. Please keep in mind that although in excellent vintage condition the pin was made in the early 1940s and has been appreciated. It will not appear brand new. That said -- it has obviously been well cared for and will continue to please for years to come. Reverse of the brooch is signed in an oval configuration with "Sterlingcraft" "By Coro". Very nice! Please add $3.50 for shipping. Canadian sales welcome. No other international sales. Payment is due within five days of sale. Thanks for taking a look!
