From one of Paris's most established fashion houses, Jeanne Lanvin has been creating classic as well as innovative designs since 1889. The firm's iconic modernist pendant necklaces from the 1960s and 1970s have become a symbol of fashion's ever evolving movement into new and exciting styles. Their bold simplicity with intentional, geometric lines provides not only a glimpse into the past but a prospective into the future. Beautiful things are forever. The necklace pictured, circa 1960s-1970s, begins with the sinewy foxtail chain with spring ring clasp. Foxtail chains were popular during these eras and continue to be used today. They feel great against the body and have a wonderful weight that conforms and drapes beautifully. The centerpiece, of course, is the very large circular pendant composed of lucite faux tortoise shell with lustrous goldtone inserts on front and integrated bail. (Reverse of pendant consists of tortoise shell only -- no goldtone inserts). The necklace is genuine vintage Lanvin. Other companies copied Lanvin's Op Art designs. Onto the specs: The 3 millimeter foxtail or snake chain is a fixed approximate 19 inches with original spring ring clasp. The pendant portion is about 2 1/8 inches across. (About 3 inches vertically, when including the bail.) Circumference is approximately 8 1/4 inches. Thickness is about 1/4 inch. Weight is a generous approximate 92 grams.

Condition is excellent vintage. All components are original and intact. All goldtone finishes intact. There may be a few very slight surface blemishes on the metal portions, often inherent on pieces of this vintage from age and / or handling. Faux tortoise shell free from damage, with wonderful marbling and color, retaining all luster / sheen. No scuffs, rubs or abrasions. Foxtail chain in pristine, as new condition. Clasp strong and secure. No repairs to chain or pendant.

The pendant is signed within an oval cartouche on the reverse of the integrated bail "LANVIN" "Paris" with the copyright symbol following. Guaranteed to be authentic vintage Jeanne Lanvin.
