Elsa Schiaparelli. Known for her innovative designs and interesting color palettes, Schiaparelli continues to be a favorite among collectors in the States as well as abroad. For your consideration I am offering this early 1950s vintage five disk necklace with a rich patinated pewtertone finish. The five slightly convex disks are six prong set with Persian turquoise colored glass disks that are framed beautifully in gracefully down turned fluted, scalloped open metal work. Each link is joined with a simple smooth arched connector. Links are heavily textured rounds. Clasp is J or shepard's hook with acorn charmed extension end.
The necklace is adjustable to about 16 1/2 inches. Decorative center spans approximately 7 inches. Width is about 1 1/16 inches. Each disk with framework measures about 1 1/16 inches across and profiles to 1/4 inch.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All disks intact with no chips, nicks, cracks, or breaks. No scratches or discoloration. Disks maintain an even robins egg blue color. No rubs or stains. Patina has mellowed to a rich pewtertone. No polishing nor abrasive cleaning has been done. No damage / no repairs.
Reverse of of one end link signed within a rectangular cartouche in familiar script "Schiaparelli".
Of course, Schiaparelli is essential to every aficionado's collection. Her contribution to the creative force behind costume jewelry's surge cannot be overstated.
