Sandor produced beautiful hand strung bead necklaces from the 1950s to the 1960. The early 1950s multi strand pictured consists of 19 strands -- 14 are strands of fine gauge brasstone chain links, 3 strands are a combo of chain link interspersed with beads and 2 strands are all peking (green glass) beads spaced with tiny clear glass beads. The round push in box clasp incorporates chain link with wired peking glass beads for a fine, finished look.
The necklace measures a fixed approximate 16 inches. Although difficult to determine width, when all strands are placed flush side to side they measure about 1 1/2 inches wide. The clasp is about 1 1/16 inch across. Peking glass beads are approximately 5 millimeters. Please note that the necklace is shown gathered or bunched in photo. It will drape differently when worn.
Condition of the necklace is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. The chains links in the clasp are more goldtone -- the strands in the necklace are more of a brasstone, perhaps due to wear, handling, and patina. The necklace has not been polished nor abrasively cleaned. No verdigris. All peking glass beads intact with no damage. All strands appear secure. Clasp wiring secure. Clasp snaps shuts securely. No damage / no repairs.
Reverse of clasp is signed "SANDOR" in block caps. No copyright symbol.
