William deLillo Lucite Disk Collar Necklace

William deLillo along with Robert Clark, former head designer for Miriam Haskell, created the House of deLillo in 1967. This illustrious pair's runway style jewelry is as close to couture as it gets. As witnessed by limited availability, deLillo pieces are rare and difficult to find. One can see that this firm's jewelry was made to be seen front and center stage. Pictured is a bold and chunky winter white thick lucite disk necklace, spaced with golden melon or squash beads, one at top and one at bottom, allowing the necklace to fit beautifully about the neck. Construction was one of Robert Clark's fortes at Haskell and his skill is fully utilized in this piece. Round push in box type clasp has a wide fluted tab border, high ridge and sliced domed center. As expected, deLillo delivers the drama, contrasting clean, crisp white lucite with highly textured golden melon beads in this contemporary collar.

The necklace is an approximate fixed 14 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches. Each disk is about 1 1/2 inches x 1 inch with a 5/16 inch maximum dome. (Lucite disks are contoured with a gently curved dome.)

Condition of the necklace is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All white lucite disks free from damage, discoloration or stains. All goldtone finishes intact. Necklace appears to be securely strung with no loose or pulled strands. Clasp is strong and secure. No damage / no repairs. As crisp and clean as when created.

Reverse of clasp is signed within an oval cartouche "deLillo".

William deLillo and Robert Clark. Teaming creativity with construction in one magnificent marvel.
