Joseph Wiesner -- scarce and of the highest quality, most Wiesner jewelry appears to have been made in the 1950s. Little is known about this company but most accounts list Wiesner jewelry to have been made by the Joseph Wiesner company in New York with a possible additional location in Los Angeles. The necklace listed, in creamy rhodium plate has five medallions of beautiful black art glass stones in emerald, marquise and rare trapezoid cuts. Stones are extremely well cut and polished. Clear or white chaton rhinestones accent throughout. (The clear rhinestones are much more white than the photo shows.)
The necklace is adjustable to about 14 3/4 inches with hook type closure. The decorative five medallion center spans approximately 5 inches. Width is about 1 1/8 inches.
Condition is excellent vintage with all components intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. No dark or cloudy clear rhinestones. All black art glass stones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks with superb sharp facets and lustrous, glossy black sheen. Hook closure is securely soldered onto end rhinestone. Adjustable end features larger clear rhinestone end charm. All rhodium finish intact. No damage / no repairs.
Reverse of center medallion is signed in block print "WIESNER". Top quality and condition from Joseph Wiesner of New York.
