Countess Zoltowska. Her name is associated with European royalty, counts and couturiers. Certainly her "Cis" jewelry -- complete with the crown logo reminds all of us that these weren't just jewels for the masses, but rather for those with say...more eclectic and perhaps even eccentric tastes. But of course, we who love vintage fashion jewelry, are always looking for these rare and unique pieces -- exuberant, exciting, enchanting extravaganzas.
Such is the case for the glorious brooch pictured. It is a spectacular large domed pin in a pewter tone finish with cupped claw set stones on long metal stems (trademark settings for much Cis jewelry). Chaton and large pear shaped stones are in jeweltone sapphire and emerald colors -- some stones clear and some crackled. (Crackled stones are another Countess specialty). Outstanding colors and treatments feature prominently in Zoltowska's jewelry.
The brooch is very large at approximately 2 1/2 inches x 2 1/4 inches with an incredible 1 1/8 inch dome.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All stones retain amazing color and treatments. Brilliance and crackling are outstanding. Pewter tone finish has a wonderful patina. Trombone style clasp strong and secure. No damage / no repairs.
The brooch is signed on the reverse of the pin's bar back. It may be a bit difficult to see in the photo but it's definitely there. "CIS" with a crown over the "I". It is guaranteed to be an authentic signed Cis piece.
If you're looking to augment your collection or just love Cis jewelry, this brooch should be at the top of your wish list.
Count yourself in with the Countess.
