Matisse, a division of Renoir, produced some of the finest enameled copper jewelry of it's time. Check out this wonderful speckled / spattered enamel shield necklace and earrings set. You can see this set on page 114 of Burkholz and Kaplan's "Copper Art Jewelry" "A Different Lustre". The necklace, adjustable to about 17 inches is comprised of five five sided white enameled shields speckled and spattered with delightful dabs of cranberry, plum and shimmery copper dots. The two slightly contoured rods bridging the shields have complementing spattering. The decorative center spans approximately 8 1/2 inches with a 7/8 inch width. Matching clip earrings, with copper accent overlays are about 1 inch x 7/8 inch.
Condition of the demi is excellent / pristine vintage. All components original and intact. All enamel intact with no chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Copper has a wonderful patina. Bridge rods have no improper bends. Some enamel / copper "notching" on reverse only of two bridge rods of necklace -- I believe done in manufacturing process. Earring clips secure. Superb enamel color spatters. Original necklace hook is signed "Matisse". Each original earring clip signed "Matisse".
When you're looking for the best in vintage enameled copper jewelry, look to Matisse. Artwork to wear.
