Classic 1940s-1950s vintage Weiss. All the features that make a Weiss what it is. Rhodium plating, fine rhinestones, chatons with dentelle faceting and the famous overlay "ribbon stones". Clear, "white" stones in marquise and chaton cuts with a single large baguette at center are layered with plumed ribbons of pave set tiny chaton rhinestones. Add creamy, luxurious rhodium plating for that rich, expensive touch. Weiss knew classic and how to translate it into large sparkling showpieces that were noticed then, as well as now.
The brooch pictured, which to me is reminiscent of the duettes so popular during the eras, consists or two identical sides split in the middle with a single baguette rhinestone. The brooch measures a very generous approximate 2 5/8 inches x 1 1/2 inches with a 1/2 inch profile. Weight is about 24 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All stones intact and brilliant. No dark, cloudy or dead stones. Dentelles, of course, have spectacular brilliance. These stones with extra faceting were expensive at the time and it shows in their phenomenal sparkle. All ribbon stones intact. There may be a few of these tiny accent stones that have dimmed a bit from age but none stand out as being dark or gray. All rhodium plate intact, front and back. All soldering secure. Pin back strong and secure. No damage / no repairs.
Reverse of brooch is signed within an oval cartouche in block caps "WEISS". No copyright symbol.
Classic Weiss continues to enthrall and entice. Fine design is always in style. Wear it well with Weiss.
