This offering is for a beautiful, difficult to find Antique French Silver Napkin Ring with magnificent pierced decoration. This napkin ring is truly a delightful! It is finely decorated in gorgeous Rococo or Louis XV style scrolls with floral or foliage accents all around the ring. The centralized Rococo cartouche is adorned with rocaille borders and C shape scrolls, supported by two lovely cherubs. As if heaven itself - cherubs have been used to present love for centuries. This napkin ring has gorgeous vermeil finish (gilded, gold-washed over silver) all over.
2 1/4" (5.7cm) diameter x 1 5/8" (4.2cm) width, weight 1.04 oz (29.5g.)
As hallmarks we have the French Boar's Head mark, which guaranteed .800 purity or higher silver content, used in Paris since 1838 for small silver objects (the marks is also applied to sterling.) There is also a trace of maker's mark with initial B, but I could not find the reference.
This fabulous napkin ring is in Very Good Condition. The ring is not perfectly round, and has some age-related scratches. The vermeil is in good shape as age, only a light fade on the edges. Please refer the detail photos I added.
A timeless classic elegance! This utterly beautiful Rococo style napkin ring is one to treasure for years to come. Don't miss out!
