Offered for your consideration is an elegant Antique French Enameled Glass Carafe by Legras. This beautiful glass carafe is opacified with blue gray and rose tone on the background, finely decorated with enameled winter scenery of snow and trees. The carafe is most probably produced between 1890-1910. Legras, one of the name that highly sought after by collectors, among the famous names like Gallé, Daum or Lalique. Legras & Cie, was founded in 1864 by August Legras. The company was very successful making a large amount of tableware. They also made decorative glass, using many techniques including marbled glass, enamelled and gilded glass. They made bottles in unusual shapes including people and boats. At the start of the 20th Century, they began to make cameo glass, some with the addition of coloured enameling. They also made perfume bottles designed by Lalique for Coty.
The carafe measures 10 5/8" (27cm) high x 3" (8cm) wide, weight 13.9 oz (394g.)
Not signed, as it noted on the catalogue. This model is appeared in the book "LEGRAS, Repertoires Raisonnés" by Marie-Francoise & Jean-Francois Michel, Nelly Fouchet, Dominique & Jean Vitrat, page 214, no.253.
The condition is very good to excellent as its age. There are some tiny chips on the middle of the bottom of carafe, but it is very minor as age. Otherwise in very good condition and ready for use or display. Please refer the detail photos I added.
