For your consideration, an intriguing raku goblet signed "Svendsen" "82". This fine studio piece, found in San Francisco, is very much in the manner of George Ohr; the work displays asymmetrical and lyrical lines including stylized coving and cut work. The thick raku oxide glaze is exceptional in depth and intensity of color; mauve, purples, grays, and magenta against a darker background of grays and blacks. The piece stands 8 ¾" tall with a 4 ¾" diameter base and weighs 2 ½ lbs and is in excellent condition with no chips. The piece does display marked kiln fractures (see photo), but the piece is structurally sound and these production details do not compromise the piece's aesthetics or stability. The most beautiful example of Bay Area raku pottery that I have come across in my collection and destined to highlight any collection of ceramic art.
