This experimental American studio glass pieces measures 9" tall, 4 ½" wide, and weighs 2 1/3 lbs. and was most probably a college glass blowing project, possibly from the glass program at Chico State (provenance, Northern California). The work is noteworthy for it use of copper and silver; these metals can be seen within the glass body of the piece. The workmanship is first rate, reflected in the expertly placed pontil and the texture exhibited at the vase's lower portion; this effect being created by dipping the molten piece in water. Another element which attests to the piece's experimental nature is its stylized mouth, and signs of crimping. The piece is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. Very collectible and special.
