Primitive1920s England Cast Iron Figural Wasp Match Safe w/Hinged Wings
This Art Nouveau heavy cast iron wasp match safe is wonderful! Came from the estate of the original owner, who brought it with him from England in the early 1920s. Has a 3-part body; the legs are attached with an old flathead screw, and the wings are hinged, flipping up to reveal a hidden compartment for matches. You can find modern reproductions, but it's hard to find an original old one like this. Has the number 9 on the underside of the wings. A great old piece, with a to-die-for patina!
