Gorgeous Italian Shell Cameo Brooch of Demeter with Pearls

We are just back from New York City with some fabulous new finds that we will be listing for the holidays. This is one of them. A gorgeous Italian shell cameo circa 1850 of the goddess of the harvest, Demeter, in a 15K gold (tested) mount, which is English. It is surrounded by little seed pearls none of which is missing. The cameo and mount are in pristine condition. The mount has its original c&t clasp. Size is approximately 2" by 1 1/2". Great size for a suit or jacket. There are a few very short and very shallow growth lines at the bottom underneath her neck. Hard to spot even under magnification. The shell is perfectly smooth on the backside with no hairlines or major stresses. This is a very fine depiction of a popular cameo subject! The carving is mint. The shell is not signed.
