Museum Quality Antique Italian Shell Cameo Brooch of a Muse

This piece is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Outstanding Italian cameo from around 1850. The subject appears to be a muse. She is holding a feather in one hand and what looks like a dagger in the other. The young lady may embody the struggle between "reason" and "violence." She may the muse of tragedy. The carving is extremely crisp and detailed. Size of the cameo is approximately 1 3/4" in length and 1 1/2" in width. The mount tests as 18K gold. It has a c&t clasp. There are a few miniscule and very shallow lines that are seen only under magnification. Each is about 1/8", and they appear at the top above her head. Love her wind-swept hair. The shell is highly polished on both sides. Mint carving! With the mount, this piece is approximately 2 1/4" in length and 2" in width. Mount is bright and shiny and looks never worn. Lots of gold here. There is no evidence of a signature.
