STEIFF BERRYMAN Teddy Bear - BROWN MOHAIR EAN 665097 -LIMITED EDITION 03081 / 7000. He is in excellent condition, and retains his button in ear as well as ribbon, tag and medal. He was made in Germany by the Steiff company for their 90th Anniversary. This completely adorable Steiff Berryman Teddy Bear is made of light brown mohair. He is 10 3/4" inch tall standing.
He comes with his Steiff Certificate ribbon on his ear which has his limited edition number of 5654. He has beige felt paw pads that have been airbrushed to look like bear paws. He is a fully jointed Teddy Bear in his neck, arms, and legs.
He was made by Steiff to resemble the Clifford Berryman carton bear cub, made famous in that cartoonists rendition of the little bear cub that Teddy Roosevelt saw clinging to a tree, that he refused to shoot. His story is, according to the Steiff Company: " Teddy Roosevelt's refusal to shoot a bear cub in Mississippi and Clifford Berryman's cartoon of November 1902 forever linked the names of Roosevelt and Teddy Bears. In 1906 Playthings Magazine formalized this connection by printing the words Teddy Bear for the very first time. In celebration of these events Margarete Steiff GmbH presented The Berryman Bear in a limited edition of 7,000 pieces ".
He has a gold-plated button in ear with the Steiff white two-ply tag showing his EAN 665097 on the front and his Limited Edition number 03081 out of 7000 on the back of the tag. He has a ribbon and Medallion hanging around his neck. The brass medallion is embossed with, "USA Naming of The TeddyBear 1906 -1996 90th Anniversary" on the front. The back of the medallion is embossed with the Steiff Teddy Bear Button in Ear Logo Trademark.
His nose is embroidered in black. He has an opened mouth with peach pink felt inside his mouth. Under his nose and the top of his mouth has been embroidered with black for accent. His black and white upward glancing eyes are set on black airbrushing to contrast with the ovoid whites of his eyes. His adorable paws have air brushed paw pads. His muzzle is a off-white or ecru. CUTE CUTE CUTE!
He HAS been kept in a smoke-free environment away from dust, sunlight, children, and pets and any odors, exhibited under glass.
