Here are some treasures fresh from a fine Texas Hill Country estate. They were originally purchased in the small country general store that served Johnson City and had remained with the little girl who found them in her Christmas stocking back in the 1920s, until now.
The Hertwig company of Germany manufactured these skating action figures. Skating Children were made to be in pairs and have two distinct positions. In addition, some were snowed, and some unsnowed. They were finished in a wide variety of colors as well, so it isn't very common these days to find a pair matched for position and snow. But these have always been together and as such are an uncommon treasure. The two figures in this pair each measures a little over approximately 2". They were of course made in the 1920s. They are snowed on their jacket area, just as they should be to add to the winter wonderland look of them.
There are some few small rubs, mostly on high areas that have been rubbed but the faces have very nice fine detail. Unfortunately, we only now notice that the sweet little girl is missing her right arm in a clean sever, and that will be reflected in their price, which is what we paid for them. They were posed in a touching position, and that masks the missing limb. A touch of white glue, or museum wax to hold them in that position and one would not notice this loss, just as we did not!
Any other doll or accessory items used for display are not included in this offering, unless otherwise specified.
