From a fine Texas Hill Country estate, here is a lovely all original Schoenhut Classic Doll, probably a 16 / 308 pouty faced girl doll, with no repaint other than a nose touch up and a small touch up at chin and forehead ( photos of these touch ups will be posted soon- she looks so pretty!) and with her very full Original Mohair Long Curl Wig that is still nailed to her head (poor dear, she has suffered from migraine for about 96 years)... She has her original label on her back, and she is approximately sixteen (16) inches tall, which indicates she was made by Schoenhut in approximately 1916 for only a short time. She has intaglio (carved indentation) irises with no outlining, and her painted blue eyes and sweet features retain fresh and strong original paint. She has a nose rub, and chin rub and small rubs adjacent to her full pouting painted lips. She also has a surface paint piercing at the forehead. Her paint is showing lifting on the face as is well seen in her pix, which actually emphasizes it more than when she is held in hand. Her right hand is missing fingers (her hand must have been caught in a bear trap or a cookie jar!) We were told that the nightgown she has on is her original one, but perhaps it was provided for her rather than being her factory gown, The workmanship on it is very nice and it has broderie anglaise at the yoke and feather stitching at the hem. She also has a petticoat ( the cotton is beginning got disintegrate) which buttons at the waist. Her family could find no other clothing for her. I had meant for her to stay in my collection, and was going to touch up her wear spots, and give her some play clothes, but thought another collector would enjoy her more just as she is.
