INFO ABOUT THIS TYPE DOLL: In the late 1920s & early 1930s a series of beautifully made cloth stockinette dolls were made representing the regional folk costumes of the various ethnic peoples of the newly formed Soviet Union (The USSR: The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). Dolls of this series are shown in several doll collector books, such as " Cloth Dolls from Ancient to Modern: A Collector's Guide with Values " by Linda Edward. Others are shown in Marjory Fainges' "Encyclopedia of Regional Costume Dolls of the World" and on collector websites. Arms and legs are cloth over wire armature and they are poseable. Hands are simple cloth mitts. The body is well stuffed, and the arms are cloth wrapped over wire armature and they are poseable. The face is molded stockinette (stockinet, stockinget) and it is painted with great skill and character
