NEAPOLITAN Painted Terracotta, Wood Paper Mache Mae Dolorosa 12"

This is a very lovely LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY Mae Dolorosa Creche figure, which means Sorrowful Mother, and probably created for a noble home. Today the the quality of her black velvet dressing with metallic laced appliques are proof of her holy splendor. She has an amazingly sorrowful face with molded brown hair, glass eyes, carved finely molded figure, standing with hands expressively posed. She has painted and gesso wooden head, arms, the legs are a paper mache base. She is is 12 inches tall and is missing her right pinky.

I have over 30 Creche Figures and would entertain a lot offer on them all. They have been together for so very long and I would be thrilled to keep them together. Email me for exact lot specifications. Only serious and respectful offers Please.
