NEAPOLITAN Painted Gesso And Wood CRECHE Female Figure 18"
This was once a very elegant LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY Creche figure, probably created for a noble home. Today the remnants of her silk dressing with metallic laced appliques are proof of her once holy splendor. She has an Italian pretty face with molded reddish blond hair, glass eyes, sweet smile, carved finely molded figure, standing with hands expressively posed. She has painted and gesso wooden head, arms, and legs, and body molded with hemp stuffing.
Figure is 18 inch tall.
